The Elf on the Shelf

We had a special visitor on December 1st.  It's the Elf on the Shelf!  Nicholas gave him a name....Gilbert.  He was hired by Santa to watch you all day long and then at night he flies back to the North Pole to give Santa a report!  He is a great listener but he is under strict orders never to talk.  His only rule is that he can not be touched or he will lose his Christmas magic!  Each day he hides in a different place.  These are some of the places that we have found him:

Five Little Cookies

Five little cookies sitting on a plate,
Waiting for Santa, he was running late.
Along came a reindeer and guess what he ate?

CRUNCH

(Countdown cookies until you empty the plate!)

Christmas Cookies

Making Christmas Cookies

Luke is a professional at cutting out cookies!

This is the table all set up for them to frost and sprinkle as much as they want!  Imagine being three years old and seeing this.......HEAVEN!

They LOVED decorating their cookies!  It kept them busy for an hour!  You would think there would be a huge mess, but it wasn't.  There was nothing on the floor, believe it or not!

The finished product!

Christmas Aprons

We made these for all of our Christmas cooking activities!  I used fabric paint for the names and for the cookie cutter shapes!

Cinnamon Ornaments

Recipe for Cinnamon Ornaments
You will need:
applesauce
cinnamon

Mix 1 cup cinnamon to 1/2 cup applesauce in a large bowl.  Gradually add cinnamon until it is a dough.  Spread cinnamon on the surface where you will be rolling the ornaments.  Cut shapes out and use a straw to put a hole in the top.  Heat oven to 250 degrees and put them in the oven for 60 minutes, 30 minutes on each side.  Your house will smell wonderful!  Put a ribbon on the top and hang on your tree!
Snow Castles

We brought snow inside and made snow castles!

Baby Lane loved the snow!
