Space Book

Each planet page on the right hand side was actually artwork that I hung in the playroom as we talked about each planet, we made the planet. The description on the left hand side are the facts we learned about the planet. The last page is actually the picture that we used on our Reach For the Stars bulletin board.

Balloon Rockets

I blew up the balloon inside the bag and they let them go! The longer skinny balloons would work a lot better than the round ones!

Space Commander Suits

We used grocery bags for the suits. The kids painted them all white and then I had to use hot glue so the 2 liter bottles would stay.

Space Mobile

These came from Oriental Trading. The kids decorated the things that are hanging with bingo blotters. I don't usually order stuff like this, but I thought these were too cool!

Walking on the Moon

I used a lot of pillows and covered them up with a sheet (that just happened to be space) and the kids walked on it. So walking on the moon would feel like walking on pillows!

Rocketship Snack

You will need:
Saltine crackers
Cheese in squares

Use one piece of cheese, cut a triangle in the middle os the cheese and use the left over for the fins!

Jars of Shooting Stars

There really wasn't a good way to take a picture of these. We used McCormick Black food coloring, water, and confetti stars! If you shake the jar, they look like shooting stars!

The kids painted the styrofoam ball (nucleus) and I added the ribbon for the tail! Then we hung them up in our space room!

Astronaut Food

We talked about how astronauts don't have kitchens on their spaceships to cook, so they have special food! So I measured out pudding mix into ziplock baggies and added milk (I had to divide the servings to figure out how much mix to milk) and then mix it in the baggie with their hands. Then I snipped off the corner of the bag and they sucked it out just like astronauts!

Moon Rocks

We balled up some aluminum foil and then painted them black and sprinkled on some glitter!

Moon Munch Snack

You will need:
large rice cake
marshmallow creme
Cheerios

Have the kids spread the marshmallow cream on their rice cakes and place cheerios for the craters on their moon!

Shoebox Planetarium

They painted the inside of their shoebox black and stuck on glow in the dark stickers!

This is a view from the inside of the planetarium!

I covered the outside with white paper and let them decorate it!

Pizza Planet

I found the Pizza Planet logo online and ironed it on to their aprons. I also bought a pizza kit from Toys R Us and I had the wooden Melissa and Doug pizza set! They loved being the chef, server, and customer!
